One of the year's most anticipated indie rock releases is High Violet, the fifth album from Brooklyn rockers The National.
The fifth piece's last effort, Boxer, helped expand the group's appeal to its greatest level yet, finding them opening for R.E.M. and having their "Fake Empire" adopted as one of Barack Obama's campaign songs.
With High Violet, the group faces a mountain of critical expectation. Lead single "Bloodbuzz Ohio" shows promise, with the title a nod to the roots of the band.
On Saturday, the group plans a webcast at its High Violet website.
The album is the group's fifth overall and third for 4AD.
