Grizzly Bear, Veckatimest (Warp)
The buzz is growing louder surrounding Brooklyn's Grizzly Bear, whose new platter marks its third full length.
I wish I could tell you more, but I don't really know a lot about them, although I heard good things about Yellow House in 2006. Hey, at least I'm honest.
They opened for Radiohead last year, which no doubt helped raise their profile. Their billed as low-fi acid folk and expermental rock, so, take that for what it's worth. I know. It's not a ringing endorsement. But I am interested in hearing it, and I'm the sort who buys things by artists who he's never heard a note of just cos he's curious, so the title of this post isn't deceitful.
A friend of mine said it was second to Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion in terms of the best albums so far in 2009. And he's a stranger I know on the Interwebs with exceptional musical taste. So there you go. A little bit more confident suggestion.
Veckatimest which I'm not sure if it's pronounced Vecka-TIM-ist or Vecka-TIME-ist is the third Grizzly Bear album and second for Warp.
