Sounds of the Universe is the Essex, England, trio's first in 3.5 years and the third this decade. It arrives on the same day the band announced it would participate in this summer's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.
For their second consecutive platter with Ben Hillier at the mixing board, Depeche Mode enlisted the help of iTunes, joining The Fray and others as one of the first to use the iTunes Pass feature, giving buyers new, exclusive content around the album's release.
The album is Depeche Mode's 12th overall album and 12th for Mute/EMI.
