Together Through Life is the first full-length studio effort from legendary Minnesota singer/songwriter Bob Dylan since 2006's surprise hit, Modern Times.
Modern marked Dylan's first No. 1 album in 30 years. It doesn't hurt when you get Scarlett Johansson to dress up like it's a long-lost '60s home movie for your music video. As much as I'd like to attribute the success to her, I'm pretty sure it's because Modern is the third in a late-career resurgence on Dylan's part.
Together also follows last fall's The Bootleg Series, Vol. 8: Tell Tale Signs, which, despite being a compilation of B-sides, outtakes and also-rans was chosen and sequenced well enough so as to not feel like so.
The songs of Together Through Life were inspired after Dylan was asked to write a tune for "My Own Love Song," an upcoming drama with Renée Zellweger and Forest Whitaker.
The album is Dylan's 33rd studio record for Columbia.
