Your comment, "and the wood products will remove nitrogen from the soil, necessitating its addition" I believe I've heard this on maybe one other occasion. I was hoping you might explain with a little more detail; perhaps to specify what wood in what form does this occur.
I'm always impressed and amazed at the knowledge from a Master Gardener.
