Every year I find myself making a list of garden-related goodies I'd like to purchase. This year was no different except for the length of the list-it was a short one! This year, I had my mind set on dahlias. I don't know why I have never tried out these plants before. I've seen other Master Gardeners successfully grow them. I know the Erickson Ranch in Suisun Valley has a large display of them every summer. I figured it was high time I got in on the act.
I went to two different booths selling dahlia tubers. I was mainly after the "dinnerplate" size, which approximately 10 inch flowers. I also purchased other sizes, but it was the dinnerplate I was after. I will research their culture and make sure I plant them correctly with a little luck, by summer I'll have some dahlia pictures to share with you!
