THE WAR ON HALLOWEEN
Don't act like I'm the only one who notices. There's a war on Halloween going on in this country. There are do gooders running roughshod trying to stamp out this wonderful holiday tradition.
First, you see it among certain religious folks. I've seen the holiday referred to on church signs as the "Harvest Festival." What? When I was a little kid, I wasn't looking forward to the Harvest Festival. That sounds like work not going door to door begging total strangers for candy.
Next, you have an objection by some to costumes featuring witches, ghosts and devils. Instead, you see princesses, clowns and Spiderman on your porch. What is that? Uh...hello, Halloween is synonymous with ghosts and black cats and jack o lanterns. It's supposed to be scary! Somewhere along the line Halloween got mixed up with a masquerade ball. Not the same thing.
